Gallery Showing

Journal Entry: Wed May 7, 2008, 8:42 PM
So this friday is my first real gallery showing for my photographs. I have had a few local galleries display my work, but this is the first one that reviewed my portfolio and decided to allow me to rent a space. I am really excited because I have obviously had some exposure for my photographs, but nothing like getting them displayed in a private gallery in Oklahoma City. At the same time though, I am kind of nervous because I have never been to a gallery opening and don't know how people will respond to my photographs. I'm still excited though!

Thoughts on Life # 1

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 28, 2008, 10:28 AM
So this is my first journal entry since I've joined deviantART and I will have to admit that this site is rather addicting. Alas, with the amazing response I have had to my work, I have not been able to sit down and let you all know a little more about myself.

I started taking pictures January 2006, though it seems so much longer ago then that. I bought my first camera, a Kodak DX7590, off eBay and started experimenting and have never really stopped. I am completely self taught and have used books and the internet to learn anything I needed.

I am attending Oklahoma State University this fall as a freshman as I took a year off to save money and figure out what I want to do. A lot of people have asked me if I'm going to major in graphic design or photography, but after a lot of consideration, I have decided to keep photography separate from my job. I am currently planning on majoring in Biology then getting my masters in forensics. Yes, I know, completely different direction, but hey, I'm young ha ha.

Back to pictures; I continued to take pictures for a year or so when my family and friends finally convinced me to try and sell my work. At first I didn't want to as I am very critical of my work and did not think it was good enough to sell. Since then I have had my work featured in a local gallery, the county fair, one of the prestigious galleries in Oklahoma City, and several local shops in town. I am still kind of in shock at the response my photography has generated and am extremely grateful for everyone who has helped me get where I am today.

Well, I've rambled enough, I'm going to do a journal feature soon, so keep watching!
